Ben Spargo is an artist based in Newcastle City Centre, originally from Buckinghamshire, in the South East of England. Spargo relocated to the North East to study Fine Art at Newcastle University in 2016 and he has continued to develop his art practice in the area since graduating with First Class Honours in 2020.His artwork explores his experiences and personal connections with spaces, objects and people around him, using spray paint and sculpture to give them vibrance and a voice, which can be heard, even in busy city centre surroundings.
Spargo previously worked in the nightlife industry, surrounded by loud music, busy crowds, flashing lights and popular culture, often impacting the way that he envisions his art projects. The vibrant lifestyle allowed him to appreciate everything that surrounds him and he recognises that you are never too far from a good time. He wants to use his artwork to spread this positive attitude and encourage others to recognise the beauty and vibrance in their surroundings. Ben Spargo was selected for an international sculpture project and exhibition in August 2020 at the Erich Hauser Stiftung in Rottweil, a major German art foundation but unfortunately this was cancelled due to Covid-19.
